2008 Nominating Committee Announced
The 70th Annual Meeting of the Membership of Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, Inc. will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Coquille Community Center in Coquille, Oregon. At the regular March meeting of the Board of Directors, the following Nominating Committee appointments for the district in which a director is to be elected at this year’s Annual Meeting were approved. President/Chairman of the Board Talks About Ruralite
In a letter to the editor of the Curry Coastal Pilot, one of our members suggested that anyone throwing their Ruralite magazine in the trash should instead save our cooperative money by removing their name from the mailing list. We said she was right; if you do not wish to receive Ruralite, you may take your name off the mailing list by simply calling any CCEC office. But, there was also a question raised about cost that Robison addresses in this article.

CCEC Board Makes Policy Changes
By unanimous decision, the Board made changes to two policies resented by the Policy Review Committee and established a new policy to address the ooperative’s equity management. Of significance is the reduction in the service connection charge, which will take effect December 4th. The existing $200 service connection charge will be reduced to $100 for each electric service/meter connected during regular working hours, defined as 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. For work performed after normal business hours under this policy change, the existing fee of $400 will be reduced to $200 per electric service/meter.

CCEC Holds October Board Meeting
The Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CCEC) Board of Directors held itsregularly-scheduled meeting Friday, October 27, 2006 in Port Orford. In a monumental decision, the CCEC Board of Directors unanimously approved a return of 1972 capital credits to the membership to coincide with the decision made earlier this year to return capital credits for 1971. The total amount to be returned is $623,901.70.

Routine Safety Inspections Begin
Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative will begin routine safety inspections of power poles and electric facilities to comply with requirements the Oregon Public Utility Commission has in place for all electric utilities. The inspections, done as a normal course of business each year, will begin mid-April and take several months to complete. Facilities in the Gold Beach and Brookings areas will be examined. Field inspectors will have their company and Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative photo identification available upon request. Vehicles will be clearly marked with the Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative logo.
